Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Thursday chaired a meeting to discuss Dhaka’s public transport management, road safety and ways to address disorder in the capital’s transport system.

The meeting began at the Cabinet Division of the Secretariat in the morning, according to a release issued by the Prime Minister’s press wing.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam, State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam, and State Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Habibur Rashid attended the session.

Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister ABM Abdus Sattar, Local Government Division Secretary Md Shahidul Hasan, and Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority Executive Director Mohammad Mashiur Rahman were also present.

Additional attendees included Road Transport and Highways Division Secretary Dr Mohammad Ziaul Haque and Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, among other senior officials.

The high-level gathering focused on various issues relating to the management of public transport in Dhaka, ensuring road safety, and resolving the existing disorder in the city’s transit system.
