The International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) has been ranked joint second among universities in Bangladesh in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, published by the UK-based higher education magazine. Globally, the university is placed in the 1001–1200 band.

THE published the rankings on its official website on Wednesday, September 30. This year’s edition assessed 2,297 universities from 118 countries.

The THE World University Rankings are among the most widely recognized university rankings globally. Institutions are assessed on five core pillars: teaching, research environment, research quality including citations, international outlook and industry engagement.

The student-to-staff ratio and the proportion of international students are also part of the evaluation.

According to the university, the ranking reflects IUBAT’s progress in academic quality, research activity and global engagement. Its emphasis on applied education, international collaboration, research and community engagement has contributed to its position in the global rankings.

Commenting on the achievement, IUBAT Treasurer Professor Selina Nargis said: “Being ranked joint second in Bangladesh in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings is a recognition of the tireless hard work and dedication of every member of the IUBAT family.

“This success has come through the collective efforts of our faculty, students, staff and alumni. Since our founding as the country’s first private university, we have prioritized quality education, applied research and international collaboration.

“This global recognition shows that we are on the right path. In the coming days, we will continue working to expand our research, strengthen our links with industry and prepare our students to be globally competent.

“Our goal is to take IUBAT to even greater heights as a world-class institution.”

The university authority expressed gratitude to faculty, students, staff, alumni and everyone involved in the achievement, and reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence, innovation and building a world-class institution.
