French Ambassador to Bangladesh H.E. Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet paid a courtesy call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, congratulating him on assuming office and discussing ways to strengthen bilateral relations.
The two officials exchanged views on trade and investment, defence, aviation, education, culture, human capital development, and priorities for the upcoming UN General Assembly.
The State Minister highlighted opportunities for French investment in Bangladesh’s infrastructure, renewable energy, space, technology and pharmaceuticals, and stressed the importance of legal labour mobility.
He also reaffirmed Bangladesh’s zero‑tolerance policy towards irregular migration and human trafficking.
The ambassador reiterated France’s readiness to enhance cooperation, appreciated Bangladesh’s democratic reforms, and expressed support for the humanitarian assistance France provides to Rohingya refugees, emphasizing a commitment to their safe, voluntary and dignified repatriation.
Both sides noted the need for collaboration on climate change and multilateral cooperation, signalling a broader agenda beyond bilateral trade.
