The Consulate General of Bangladesh in Los Angeles organized the Bangladesh–Silicon Valley Technology Dialogue at Cedar Hall, Stanford University in San Francisco on 27 September under the theme “Technology, Talent and Partnerships for Bangladesh’s Future.” A special delegation sent by Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman met technology professionals, researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, and members of the Bangladeshi diaspora during the event.
Consul General Kazi Muhammad Jabed Iqbal welcomed participants and conducted the proceedings, while H.E. Tareq Md Ariful Islam, Ambassador of Bangladesh to the United States, addressed the dialogue. The high-level government delegation included Adviser Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam, Adviser Rehan Asif Asad, and State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj.
Experts from leading global institutions delivered presentations on artificial intelligence applications and the development of a semiconductor ecosystem in Bangladesh. A subsequent panel discussion moderated by Dr. Saif Islam focused on talent, technology, and capital, covering academic research, workforce development, industry partnerships, and investment opportunities.
Adviser Rehan Asif Asad highlighted the necessity of forging stronger links among research institutions, educational bodies, startups, and established industry. State Minister Shama Obaed Islam emphasized the growing importance of science and technology diplomacy alongside robust engagement with the Bangladeshi diaspora.
State Minister Bobby Hajjaj drew attention to the foundational aspects of learning, teacher training, and the responsible adoption of technology and AI within educational frameworks. Concluding the sessions, Adviser Titumir called for actionable projects and clear next steps to bolster technology-led industries, expand skilled employment, and improve public services. The Consulate General announced plans to actively pursue specific areas of cooperation identified during the dialogue.
