What happened
The prime ministers of Bangladesh and Malaysia met in Putrajaya for talks spanning bilateral, regional and multilateral issues.
Both governments agreed to move forward with negotiations on a Bangladesh–Malaysia Free Trade Agreement and encouraged greater Malaysian investment.
Why it matters
Labour recruitment, worker regularisation and reducing recruitment costs were discussed alongside skills and education.
Bangladesh also sought Malaysian support for closer engagement with ASEAN and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership.
