The discussion took place during a meeting between Australian Army Deputy Chief of Army Major General Chris Smith and Prime Minister's Defence Adviser Brigadier General (retd) AKM Shamsul Islam at the Armed Forces Division in Dhaka Cantonment.
According to an Inter-Services Public Relations press release, the talks centered on longstanding friendly relations and strategies to boost professional capabilities across respective land forces.
Both sides underscored the importance of expanding bilateral training programs, technical cooperation, and strategic communication to address modern warfare challenges effectively.

He further expressed enthusiasm for broadening cooperation in advanced peacekeeping training and sharing operational experiences to support international peace.
Brigadier General Shamsul Islam expressed appreciation for recent advancements in bilateral defense ties and noted that the visit would deepen institutional bonds between the two defense forces.
