What happened

Bangladesh and Bhutan held their fourth Foreign Office Consultations in Dhaka, co-chaired by the two foreign secretaries.

The discussions covered political ties, investment, connectivity, education, health, agriculture, tourism and people-to-people links.

Why it matters

Both sides discussed expanding the Preferential Trade Agreement and exploring a future free-trade agreement.

They also reviewed cooperation through SAARC and BIMSTEC and Bangladesh's interest in Bhutan's Gelephu Mindfulness City initiative.
