Agriculture and Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammed Aminur Rashid announced on Wednesday that a total of 4.3 million farmers across the country will receive Farmer Cards this year.
Speaking to journalists after inspecting the venue at Phulgazi Government Pilot High School grounds in Feni district, the minister detailed that 100,047 farmers will receive input incentives on the opening day of the pilot phase. Prime Minister is scheduled to distribute the Family Card, Farmer Card, and honoraria for imams, priests, and other religious figures during the event.
The minister explained that following the successful completion of the pre-pilot phase, authorities initiated database creation for 4.3 million farmers for the pilot phase. Under the first phase, 110,165 farmers are being integrated into the program, with 100,047 of them receiving Tk2,500 each as agricultural input assistance.
Additionally, 7,643 farmers in Feni district will receive printed copies of the farmer cards. Thursday's program will span 77 upazilas across 56 districts nationwide, featuring direct connections in 13 upazilas and linkage to the remaining 64.
Aminur Rashid noted that the government plans to deliver farmer cards to all farmers across the country over the next two and a half to three years. The initiative is designed to streamline assistance for purchasing agricultural inputs and ensure government development support reaches agricultural workers more efficiently.
